The Concerned Youths for the Liberation of Aniocha South, well known as Equity Crusaders, have taken their agitation for political equity and balance in Aniocha South to an all-time high, as they marched in their thousands to the government house, demanding that the Local Government Council Chairman be zoned to Nsukwa clan.

The protesting youths on Tuesday, 29th of May, in their burgeoning numbers, marched from Inter-Bau flyover to the state government house, consolidating their demand for equity in Aniocha South. The Tuesday protest is sequel to the news of the resignation of Hon Joan Onyemaechi from the state cabinet, where she served as the commissioner for Technical Education in Delta State.

Carrying flex banners of different inscriptions, the Equity Youths maintained their demand for the next council chairman to be produced by Nsukwa clan, for political power equity in the local government.

Speaking to the chief of staff to the governor of the state, Hon Johnson Erijo, who came to receive and address them, one of the leaders of the protest, Comrade Andrew Okolie emphasized that the resignation of Hon Joan Onyemaechi from the state executive cabinet where she served as commissioner for Technical Education has not changed the demand.

Comrade Andrew maintained that the commissioner should be given to the younger brother, who is currently unemployed , or to any other person in Ubulu clan. He emphasized that the Nsukwa clan should produce the next council chairman and not take the commissioner that was already zoned to Ubulu clan.

” The reason we are here today and we will continue to come here again and again, until the right thing is done, is that Nsukwa clan is rightfully demanding for the chairmanship of Aniocha South Council. Few days ago we saw the claimed resignation of the commissioner of Technical Education, Hon Joan Onyemaechi from the state cabinet. Her resignation holds no water and it will not stop the Equity Crusade. Nsukwa clan has not asked for commissioner. What they are demanding is the local government chairman. We are saying this because we love the party, the Peoples Democratic party and we will not like to by part of the destruction of party.”

The Chief of staff to the State Governor, Hon Johnson Erijo, who was flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Festus Ahon, thanked the concerned youths for their organization, peaceful disposition and their passion and love for the party. Hon Erijo stated that the governor is committed to attending to their demands as they can see the effects of it in the unfolding events.

” The last time you came and made your request known, you must have seen some activities that should show you that your requests are being attended to.
Your new request will be attended to. I will brief the Governor as I go back and present this new request. I urge you to sustain the love and passion you have for our party .”

The Equity Crusaders also marched from there to the state Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat, off Mariam Babangida road, to also establish their demand.
