LET’S REBUILD APC IN DELTA North~ Delta North APC Leaders

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC in Delta North Senatorial District has resolved to give unity a chance while working to protect the interest of the Senatorial District ahead of their interests.

This consensus was made at a meeting convened by the APC State Vice Chairman/Delta North Chairman for party officials, leaders, and stakeholders from the Senatorial District, to assess and reorganize the party, ahead of future electoral engagements

The meeting which was held in Asaba, Capital of Delta State, had in attendance prominent leaders of the party, and chairmen of the party across the 9 Local Local Government Areas that make up the Senatorial District. It is also the first stakeholders meeting to be held by the party since the 2023 elections.

In his opening address, Chairman of the Party in Delta North Senatorial District and Convener of the meeting Ogbueshi Hon Adizue Eluaka explained that the meeting was held to work towards building a new Delta North APC, learning from the experiences of the past, especially the 2023 general elections.
He lamented the state of affairs while asserting that Delta North APC merited more than the present outcome suggests.

According to Hon Eluaka, “ This meeting was convened to bring party leaders and stakeholders together towards building a new APC Delta in Delta North. Since the 2023 elections, we have not been able to meet to discuss our performance.
This meeting is long overdue and as leaders, we must accept the blame in one way or the other”.

Hon Eluaka also spoke on the unity of the party in the Senatorial District, underscoring how it contributed to the dismal performance of the party at the 2023 general elections. He also noted how it persists and expressed his readiness to work towards the unity of APC in Delta North Senatorial District. He promised that no longer will candidates and leadership be forced on the party, but through consensus, Delta North APC would progress.

He said “ The issue of unity in the party is one that we need to address and the floor is open for all to say their mind because we all want to move forward. We made a lot of mistakes and we must avoid them in the future.

” Party candidates will no longer be forced on the party, neither will party leadership be done by force. We know where we had our issues, and I assure you all that one person will no longer have dominance and control of the party,

We need to find a solution at all costs and between ourselves, even if it means taking painful drastic decisions” he added

Other leaders who spoke at the meeting called for a renewed approach to the administration of the party to allow for participatory democracy. The leaders and stakeholders collectively agreed to bury the hatchet for Delta North to survive, insisting that the Senatorial District had no reason to play second fiddle in the party.
