OGWASHI-UKU, DELTA STATE — Political momentum is gathering in Aniocha South Local Government Area ahead of the formal inauguration of the Smart Movement for Sheriff 2027, a grassroots support group established to galvanize support for the re-election of Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori in the 2027 governorship election.
The inauguration, scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Aninshi Primary School, Ogwashi-Uku, is expected to attract political leaders, party faithful, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, and supporters from across Delta State.
The movement is the brainchild of the Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, who says the initiative is driven by Governor Oborevwori’s record of governance under the MORE Agenda and the need to consolidate ongoing development across the state.
The event will be chaired by Architect Kester Ifeadi, while Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu is billed to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
Organizers say the movement seeks to deepen grassroots political participation while highlighting what they describe as the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, rural development, and inclusive governance.
Supporters also point to projects executed in Aniocha South, including road infrastructure and increased representation of the local government in key appointments, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to equitable development.
As Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Ufoh has repeatedly commended Governor Oborevwori’s investment in technical and vocational education, citing improvements in technical colleges, modern learning facilities, equipment upgrades, and skills acquisition programmes aimed at preparing young people for employment and entrepreneurship.
Beyond politics, the inauguration will include an empowerment programme featuring the distribution of sewing machines and grinding machines to beneficiaries as part of efforts to promote self-reliance and economic inclusion.
Hon. Ufoh is expected to use the occasion to rally residents of Aniocha South to begin early grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections, urging supporters to campaign peacefully and work towards delivering overwhelming votes for Governor Oborevwori and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the party’s “5/5” electoral strategy.
The inauguration is widely seen by political observers as one of the earliest large-scale grassroots mobilization efforts in Aniocha South ahead of the 2027 elections, reflecting increasing political activity as parties and support groups prepare for the next electoral cycle.
