Today Thursday 26th December 2024, ADAIGBO OLD BOYS 1987 set meets. The inaugural physical meeting in Ogwashi Uku, holding in the compound of one of the alumnus, Barr. Steve Uwaechie, have a cluster of the boys who are now men,
The meeting commenced with Prayers by; Sir Felix Umunna.The Secretary of the Association, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, outlined the AGENDA for adoption.
The Agenda which was adopted by Chief John Agamu was supported by John Chukwunonso Okeiukwu
Thereafter, the participants took time to introduce themselves.
The school management led by the current Principal of the school introduced themselves, as well as old teachers who got a standing ovation.
The Principal Mrs Philomena Eborah was called upon to address the Old Boys.
The Principal thanked the old boys for their magnanimity and called on them to come forth more and help the school especially in the area of security for the school as fencing for the school was expedient to curtail the rampaging headers , who have turned the school into a grazing land.
Also an older teacher, games master and Former principal of the school, Prince Joseph Onwuha, addressed the old boys giving accounts of his experience corroborating the narrative of the current principal specifically on security.
Other members of the school management also gave their remarks. Mr Ashinze talked about other facilities and academic situation needed in the school.
The Old Boys responding; Chief John Agamu addressed the concerns raised by the school management. He addressed with enquiry the change in the school from boys to mixed.
He emphasized prioritizing of the security and fencing of the school.
Comrade Victor Sorokwu also accentuated the position of Chief John Agamu and echoed that it is though the responsibility of government, but the association will do what it can, but will equally do advocacy and interface with government.
Mr Obihai stated that the fence as articulated will be built, he went further to state that he will personally donate to ensure that science is uplifted in the school.The alumnus spoke about sanitation and the need to secure lawn mowers.
The President of the Association rose to give accentuation to the deliberations, thanking the school management and re-emphasizing the disposition of the Association to do it’s best to address the concerns raised, especially the security situation.
He equally encouraged the school management on effective teaching that made schooling interesting. He stated that the session and interaction will be a continuous one and that there will be results in the shortest time.
Chief Agatu and Mr Obihai rose up to the occasion and donated two lawn mowers on the spot, which they requested the school management to source the quality ones available that they will pay for them immediately.
The first session ended with photographs, socializing and merriment.
The Dinner session of all white had the Old Boys Merry and rock all night in FrankBryan Resort, Ogwashi Uku, which is owned by one of them, Chief John Agamu.
