ASABA, DELTA STATE — Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education and Convener of the Smart Movement for Sheriff 2027 (SMS), Hon. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, has applauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for convening what he described as a timely and impactful Economic and Investment Summit, saying the initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to laying a sustainable foundation for economic prosperity and industrial growth.
Speaking in reaction to the summit held in Asaba, Hon. Ufoh said the gathering of policymakers, investors, development experts, and business leaders reflects the governor’s deliberate efforts to reposition Delta State as a leading investment destination in Nigeria.
According to him, while economic summits often generate policy discussions and strategic recommendations, Governor Oborevwori has distinguished himself by matching vision with practical implementation through strategic investments in critical sectors, particularly technical education.
“The Governor has consistently demonstrated that economic transformation begins with developing the right human capital. His administration’s unprecedented investments in technical education have shown a clear understanding that industrial growth cannot thrive without a skilled workforce,” Ufoh stated.
The commissioner noted that the ongoing construction of modern, high-tech technical colleges and the comprehensive equipping of existing institutions with contemporary learning facilities are visible indicators of the administration’s determination to prepare young Deltans for the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
He emphasized that the state’s renewed focus on technical and vocational education is creating a pipeline of highly skilled artisans, technicians, innovators, and entrepreneurs capable of driving industrialization, reducing unemployment, and attracting private-sector investments.
Hon. Ufoh further explained that the governor’s investments in technical education complement the objectives of the Economic and Investment Summit by ensuring that Delta State possesses not only the infrastructure required for investment but also the skilled manpower necessary to sustain economic expansion.
He stressed that the administration’s education reforms are strategically aligned with global best practices, where technical education serves as the backbone of manufacturing, technology, infrastructure development, and small and medium-scale enterprise growth.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s footprints across the technical education sector have removed every doubt about the direction of the administration.
“The Governor has left no one in doubt about where he is taking Delta State. By investing heavily in modern technical schools, equipping them with state-of-the-art facilities, and prioritizing practical skills development, he is building the foundation for a resilient and diversified economy,” he said.
