Labour Party’s Delta North senatorial candidate advocatesll

ASABA, Delta State — Labour Party candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Engr. Rex Chinye Biose, has called for greater political equity, youth participation and accountable leadership, urging young people to take an active role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
Biose made the call on Friday during an engagement with members of the Equity Crusaders, formally known as Concerned Youths for the Liberation of Aniocha South, in Asaba, Delta State.
The meeting focused on political representation, fairness in the distribution of political opportunities and the need for leadership that prioritises public welfare and sustainable development across the Anioma nation.

A CASE FOR COMPETENCE AND EQUITY

Addressing the gathering, Biose, an indigene of Idumuje-Unor in Aniocha North Local Government, said his senatorial ambition was driven by the need to improve the quality of representation in Delta North.

Under his campaign mantra, “Competence for a New Stride,” he pledged to promote a model of representation focused on measurable development, youth empowerment, job creation and accountable governance.
“Our people deserve leadership that prioritises public welfare over personal interest. Every great economy is sustained by healthy people and competent representation. Delta North has huge human and natural resources, but poor representation has held us back,” he told members of the group.
Biose argued that political leadership should be assessed by its impact on the lives of citizens, rather than party affiliation or political rhetoric.

YOUTH PARTICIPATION AND VOTER MOBILISATION

The Labour Party candidate also reaffirmed his allegiance to the Obidient Movement, calling on young people to reject voter inducement and participate actively in the democratic process.
He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and prepare to exercise their franchise in the 2027 elections.

Biose, a former banker and engineering consultant was screened and cleared by the Labour Party in May. He subsequently flagged off his campaign in Issele-Uku on September 12.
His engagement with the Equity Crusaders forms part of the political conversations unfolding across Delta North ahead of the next electoral cycle.

EQUITY AT THE CENTRE OF DELTA NORTH POLITICS

Leaders of the Equity Crusaders welcomed Biose’s visit, describing engagement with grassroots youth organisations as an important component of inclusive political representation.
The group has advocated zoning, fairness and political balance, particularly in Aniocha South and the wider Delta North Senatorial District.

Its members reiterated their position that equity, justice, fairness and good governance should guide political negotiations and the distribution of leadership opportunities.
The group also pledged to mobilise support for its equity agenda across the nine local government areas that make up Delta North.

THE ROAD TO 2027
The meeting concluded with a joint call for issue-based political engagement and sustained advocacy for equitable representation as Delta State approaches the 2027 general elections.
While the visit provided an opportunity for Biose to present his political vision to a grassroots constituency, the broader challenge for aspirants across Delta North will be translating campaign promises into credible policy proposals and demonstrable commitments to development.
For the Equity Crusaders, the central question remains whether the emerging political contest will produce a more inclusive system of representation.

As the 2027 elections approach, the debate over competence, equity and youth participation is likely to remain a significant part of the political conversation in Delta North.
