Oshimili South 2027: Hon Nwabuaze Declares Assembly Bid, Promises Jobs and Accountability

In Oshimili SouthHon. Kelvin Chukwudum Nwabueze, has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the Delta State House of Assembly, pledging to focus on job creation, transparency, and grassroots-driven governance if elected.
Nwabuaze, who currently represents Oko-Anala
Constituency in Oshimili South Local Government Area, made the declaration while speaking to journalists at the NOL24 Media Cathedral in Asaba.
He said his ambition is driven by a desire to deliver “tangible results” for constituents, particularly by tackling youth unemployment through economic revitalisation and investment.
“We must go beyond rhetoric and begin to revive our local industries and engage investors,” he said. “There is enormous untapped potential that can create jobs for our people.”
The councillor outlined plans to stimulate the local economy by reopening dormant industries, attracting private sector participation, and exploring emerging sectors capable of sustaining long-term employment.
On governance, Nwabuaze emphasised accountability, promising regular engagement with constituents and transparent communication on his performance if elected.
“If after two years there are no visible results, the people should tell me to leave,” he said. “Leadership must be accountable.”
He also stressed the importance of accurate grassroots representation, saying elected officials must convey the real concerns of the people to those in authority without distortion.
Nwabuaze pointed to his track record at the local government level as evidence of his readiness for higher office. He cited his role in sponsoring bills on sanitation and environmental management, as well as intervening to halt what he described as a substandard health centre project in his constituency.
The aspirant also raised the issue of equity in political representation, arguing that the Oko axis should be given the opportunity to represent Oshimili South at the State Assembly. According to him, a fair rotation of power would promote inclusiveness and strengthen the local political structure.
His declaration comes as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across the state positioning themselves for party nominations.
