NDDC Chairman Chiedu Ebie Commends Tinubu and Sheriff, Outlines APC’s Strategy to Deepen APC’s Footprint in Delta
Asaba, DeltaState — Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Chiedu Ebie, has given a positive assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the governance direction of Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, saying the alignment between both levels of government is creating new opportunities for development in the state.
Speaking to journalists and party stakeholders in Asaba, Ebie said the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and renewed federal attention to the Niger Delta have provided a clearer framework for project delivery and investment attraction. “The signal from Abuja has been consistent: policy will be matched with implementation. For Delta, that translates into better access to federal interventions in roads, power, health, and skills acquisition,” he said.
On Federal-State Collaboration
Ebie noted that the current political climate in Delta has reduced friction between the state and federal governments, allowing for more coordinated planning. He commended Governor Oborevwori for maintaining stability and prioritizing the completion of ongoing projects.
“Governor Sheriff has kept governance predictable and open to engagement. That predictability matters to investors, to development partners, and to political actors across party lines. When the state is stable, the APC can engage constructively and advocate for projects that serve our people,” Ebie stated.
He added that the NDDC is aligning its 2025–2026 project pipeline with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with priority placed on completing legacy roads, expanding rural water supply, upgrading health facilities, and scaling up youth skills programs across the nine mandate states.
Recounting the 2023 Presidential Push in Delta
Reflecting on the 2023 presidential election, Ebie said the APC’s improved performance in Delta was the result of deliberate grassroots mobilization.
“We did not rely on Abuja alone. Our strategy was ward-based. Across the 270 wards, APC leaders, youth structures, and women’s wings went door to door to explain what the party stood for and how it connected to daily realities—jobs, electricity, roads, and access to social programs,” he explained.
According to Ebie, the party also invested in data-driven outreach and stakeholder mapping, which helped identify key communities and issues that shaped local messaging. “Once people understand how federal policy affects their community, the conversation becomes practical, not abstract,” he said.
He credited sustained post-election engagement for keeping the APC structure active in Delta. Regular consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community associations have helped the party maintain relevance and channel feedback to government agencies.
On Party Unity and Internal Process
Ebie emphasized that internal discipline remains the foundation for electoral success. “When primaries are transparent and the outcome is respected, the party enters the general election united. That unity is what voters respond to,” he said.
He urged party members to prioritize issue-based politics over personal contests, noting that the electorate is increasingly focused on delivery rather than rhetoric. “People want to see roads completed, schools equipped, and young people skilled and employed. If we focus on that, the politics takes care of itself,” he added.
Looking Ahead
Looking to the next political cycle, Ebie expressed confidence that Delta State is positioned to benefit more directly from federal programs if political actors maintain a coordinated front.
“President Tinubu has shown openness to states that present clear, unified priorities. With Governor Sheriff providing stability at the state level, Delta has the opportunity to convert that alignment into tangible outcomes for our people,” he concluded.
Ebie also reaffirmed the NDDC’s commitment to transparency and performance tracking, stating that the commission would continue to publish project updates and engage communities directly to ensure accountability in project execution.
